Enhanced CBR Simulant Kit
The Enhanced CBR Simulant Kit was developed by Battelle with funding from the National Counter Terrorism Center and the Technical Support Working Group. The kit combines the non-hazardous visual and odor simulants available in the original kits with new simulants. The kit is designed to assist a wide range of security and emergency response personnel in recognizing low-purity chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) materials that fall within plausible terrorist production capabilities. The included user manual provides additional information on the properties and possible variations of the materials simulated in the kit. All materials are contained in a rugged briefcase weighing approximately 10lbs and have no transport restrictions.
The kit contains simulants for the following materials:
Chemical Visual and Odor Simulants:
- Phosgene odor
- CN Tear Gas
- CS Tear Gas
- HD (Mustard)
- L (lewisite)
- GB (Sarin)
- Cyanide Salt
- GD (Soman)
- VX
- DMSO, a skin penetrant associated with poisoning, in both liquid and gel form
Biological Visual Simulants:
- Botulinum simulant (spoiled meat)
- Dry biological agent without fluidizer
- Dry biological agent with fluidizer
- Embryonated egg virus slurry
- Castor beans (Ricin)
- An additional Ricin simulant
- Bio slurry
- A fermentation odor simulant
Radiological Simulants:
- U.S. and Russian uranium fuel pellets
- Yellow Cake (uranium dioxide)
- Cecium-137
- Cobalt-60
- Iridium-192
- A Pigtail
- A well-logging Source
- Red Mercury
- A sealed radiation source
The Enhanced CBR Simulant Kit price is $750 plus processing fee and any applicable sales tax. Kits may be purchased via a direct purchase order or credit card order. Please provide the following information or direct any technical inquiries to cbrkit@battelle.org:
